Kilmurry School in Thurles on Munster Hurling Final Day

Next Sunday in Thurles, Sixmilebridge & Kilmurry hurling folk will have more to cheer on than the Clare Senior Hurlers as two young pupils from Kilmurry National School take centre stage in the Primary Game. Cian Mullins & Cèire McNamara will line out for Clare at half time for the boys and girls Primary Game.

Cian & Ciara have been excellent role models for all younger pupils in Kilmurry and deserve their day out with all the hard work they have put into their skills over the years. Sunday will be a proud day for the School itself, teachers, fellow pupils, parents and coaches and we wish Cian & Cèire the best of luck.

Also in Kilmurry School hurling news the boys completed their round of games in the Cumann na mBunscol by playing Kilkishen/O C Mills, Ogonnelloe & Parteen. They were defeated by Kilkishen/O C Mills & Parteen and beat Ogonnelloe. All three games were of a very high standard and the boys showed in each game their commitment to work hard and improve on their skills. The boys panel for these games were: Douglas Brew, Noah Conneely, Ronan Donnellan, Zach Flynn, James Harrison, Fìonàn Heffernan, Larry Howard, Colum Keane, Raphael Liddy, Luke McNamara, Cian Mullins, Kielan O Brien, James Reidy, Joe Reidy, Zack Sheedy, Calum Slater, Harry Stafford, Thomàs Tubridy & Carter Tuohy.

It must also be said that Kilmurry boys and girls are competing in the higher divisions of Cumann na mBunscol against much bigger schools. Kilmurry School has 80% of its boys participating with the club teams and 75% of its girls playing with the Camogie teams. These are very high figures and a great compliment to the Club amd the work thats done.

The Wall Ball Competition which is into its 2nd straight year is in full swing with the final pairing decided last week. All boys & girls in the school play in this competition. The final was between Douglas Brew & Zack Flynn. Douglas Brew came out on top in an exciting final. Well done to all pupils for their effort in getting better at their wall ball skills.

The end of season hurling blitz will take place in the coming weeks and a full report to follow on that.
