50 brave warriors/ excited girls and boys togged out in O' Garney Park this week for the clubs first Halloween Camp.

The camp catered for 6 to 13 year olds who travelled from both inside and outside the parish to avail of the excellent coaching on offer.

The players took part in hurling skills and matches with a large number of fun games and fundamental movement skills.

On Thursday afternoon the blitzes took place where the players displayed the skills they had just learnt or improved on during the week.

On Wednesday & Thursday the players were visited by a number of club players, managers and coaches who brought along a collection of trophies won by the club this season.

Representing the hurlers Tadgh Keogh, Billy Maxwell, Ryan McCarthy, Cian Gleeson, Cian Fawl and Evan Murphy visited with the U14A Cup, U15A Shield, U15 Academy A Cup, Junior C Cup and Junior B Cup.

For the Camogie club Helena Ryan, Doireann Ui Bhrion and Aoibhinn McNamara (also a coach at the Camp) arrived with the U16A and Minor A Shields.

The managers and players spoke to the children about their club campaigns, the importance of practicing at home, diet, skills and answered an array of questions before signing hurleys and helmets.

Míle Buíochas to all for spending time with the children and inspiring the next generation to keep up the practice. Fingers crossed we'll see a number of them in the club and county geansai in the future.

A special mention to coaches Sinead Hogan, Fidelma Kearney, Debbie Reddan, Aoibhinn McNamara, Paul Corry, Carmel Peacock and Brian Culbert without whom the camp would not have been possible.

Head coach Jim Corbett said "We are very lucky to have so many talented coaches in the parish available for the camp. Their enthusiasm and session plans kept the players active and entertained all week. Thanks to all parents, grandparents etc. who registered and brought the children to/from the camp."

Thanks to the behind the scenes team John Corbett, Gerry Lyons and Georgie for having the pitch, stand and toilets ready for the camp.

The clash of the ash was also to be heard with the clubs hurley swap box providing useful for replacement hurleys.
