The home side started the brighter and had 1-3 got in the opening 10 minutes. The goal coming from Gary Cooney after 2 minutes. The points coming from the skillful Ian Murray (0-3) and Sean Murphy.
The 'Bridges task seemed to get more difficult on 10 minutes when Conor Hassett got his marching orders for an altercation with Mills/Bodyke player Sean Perl. For the remainder of the half the amalgamation outscored the 'Bridge 1-2 to 0-2. The goal scored once again by Gary Cooney. The 'Bridge replys both coming from Pa Mulready. A spectacle of the first half was the work rate and effort from the 'Bridge team after going down to 14 men. Cian Hogan and Pairic Hassett were particularly impressive working hard to keep possession in the forward line. The half time score read 2-5 to 0-2.
The 14 men started the 2nd half in thundering fashion scoring 2 goals in the 5th and 6th minutes through substitute Christy Carey and Pa Mulready. As the rest of the game played out it sometimes appeared the 'Bridge had the extra man as they strived forward at every opertunity. The Mills/Bodyke found scores hard to come by with Ronan Touhy in majestic form at corner back with his tidy stick work and long clearances. The 'Bridge outscored the amalgamation by 3-3 to 1-3 in the 2nd half. The Mills/Bodyke goal coming from full forward Sean McInerney. The 'bridges 3rd goal came from Christy Carey as he netted his 2nd. The game ended on a scoreline of 3-8 to 3-5 in favour of Mills/Bodyke.
The Mills/Bodyke can now look forward to a semi final place in the cup while Sixmilebridge have to settle for a place in the shield.
