Sixmilebridge 1-15 v Scariff 2-14

Division 2 Hurling League Round 8 @ O’Garney Park

There was disappointment for the club’s second string yesterday evening after they suffered a narrow loss to Scariff in a crunch league tie. With Ruan safely through to the league final and Parteen into the semi-final spot, it was left to the ‘Bridge and Scariff to snatch the remaining spot against Parteen.

Scariff held the upperhand at the interval with a 1-7 to 0-6 lead. Sixmilebridge fought back in the second period but could not claw back the lead. After fifty minutes all that was between the two was a goal with the East Clare outfit 1-12 to 0-12 to the good. More woe was evoked on the home team when the visitors got through for a second goal and despite a late goal from Thomas Liddy it was the visitors who clinched the final spot.

Sixmilebridge: Stephen Fleming; Ger Quilligan, Noel Purcell, Kevin Phelan; Jonathan Downes, Tommy Morey, Sean Stack; Sam O’Sullivan, Anthony Liddane; David O’Connor, Stiofán Fitzpatrick, Alan Mulready; Cyril Crowe, Adrian Chaplin, Thomas Liddy.

Sub: Errol Tuohy for Crowe (50 mins, injury).
