Sixmilebridge collected their first points of this years U/16 campaign with a well deserved victory over Wolf Tones on Sunday afternoon.
The 'bridge raced into a 1-2 to nil lead in the opening five minutes with the goal coming from the hard working Cathal Lynch. The points coming from a Eoin Flynn free and Ronan Cahill. Arron Shanagher replied from two placed balls for the tones by the 10th minute. The 'bridge owned the rest of the half with a great solo point from Gavin Whyte and five Eoin Flynn points bringing the half time score 1-8 to 0-3.
The skillful Jack Cunningham opening the scoring at the start of the second half for the Tones wit a point. With Robbie Corry and Shaun Murray earning their side frees and setting up their teammates for some delightful scores in the second half it appeared it would be a good day for this 'bridge team that really didnt perform seven days previous. The Tones battled hard to get back into the game with a Jack Cunningham goal and hard work from centre forward Arron Diviney. The score of the day came in the 11th minute of the second half from the 'bridge number eight Eoin Flynn. After his half back line winning a puck out they worked the ball to Flynn who was 65 yards out on the sideline. He left a Tones player on the ground with a delightful piece of skill and placed the ball over the black spot. The final whistle went and a scoreline of 1-17 to 1-6 in favour of the 'bridge.
