Ger O’Grady faces a race against time to be fit for Clare’s Munster SHC semi-final against Limerick on June 22 after breaking a bone in his hand during last Sunday’s first round win over Waterford.
The Crusheen defender was forced to retire at half-time after suffering the break 10 minutes before the interval. X-rays after the game confirmed the break and O’Grady will have the injury assessed again on Tuesday before doctors decide on what course of action to take.
Clare manager Mike McNamara explained: "Gerry is certainly in a race against time to make the Limerick match. It will be looked at on Tuesday to see if it is knitting or healing and if it’s not, a pin may be inserted.
"It’s in the back of the hand which gives him hope for the Limerick match."
