U21 A Championship, Round 1

Sixmilebridge 1-16
Doorabarefield 1-13

Venue - Sixmilebridge
Referee - Aaron Hogg

First up were the U21 A team and they faced Doora Barefield, who had beaten the 'Bridge in the same fixture in 2022. The Bridge got off to a good start when a Luke O' Halloran shot from out the field dropped in to the net over the keepers head. Managed by Christy O' Conor, Doora Barefield and the Brian Culbert managed Bridge side traded points over the half hour before Doora Barefield finished strong to ensure they were only a point behind at half time. Colm Flynn unfortunately had to leave the action injured mid way through the first half but was ably replaced by twin brother Noel Flynn.

The second half saw Doora Barefield bringing the tie to a draw before the Bridge finished strongly with 4 unanswered points to win out the tie on a scoreline of 1-16 to 0-13.

Dylan Downes was superb in defence and Sean Macnamara covered a lot of ground and struck a lot of ball in the half back line. Up front Colin Kelly worked very hard as did David Kenndey and Luke O' Halloran. Dara Fitzgerald, Tulla's Harty Cup captain for 2023, put in a great performance at wing back scoring 3 points from play for his efforts as well as a '65.

Next up for this team is Clooney Quin who had a bye in Round 1.
