Congrats to Pa Sheehan who helped the Montana Grizzlies to victory last weekend in Chicago.

The Montana club hurling team went undefeated at the national tournament in Chicago to claim its third Collegiate Hurling national championship in the past four years.

The Grizzlies team only began in 2014 and won the gold in each of its first two years of action. After UConn claimed the title in 2016, the Griz beat the Huskies twice at the national tournament this past weekend in Chicago to take it back.

Montana started off with four wins in round robin play, beating Pitt 15-0, Colorado 16-4, Purdue 8-2 and the defending champs from UConn 11-2. In single elimination bracket play, Montana again knocked off Pitt 19-2 before a rematch with UConn in the finals that the Griz took 16-12.

Pa who has been a regular on the Bridge Senior setup for a number of years graduated with a Applied Languages degree and a Masters in Languages Education at the University of Limerick. During his time in UL he completed a thesis on the hurling pitch as an Irish language learning space and took up his post as Foreign Language Teaching Assistant as part of the Fulbright Program at the University of Montana last August. While Pa has been spreading the hurling gospel in Montana John O'Meara and the rest of the senior squad look forward to having him back later this summer.
