If Feile na nGael 2025 is half as exciting as last nights fundraising quiz our boys are in for some weekend ....
Last night close on 150 people gathered in Gleesons bar for a quiz to raise funds for our U15 Hurlers trip to Wexford in June. Quizmaster on the night was Ruairi Walsh who had the serious side of Chris Tarrant and the wit of club Chairman and Clare FM commentator Syl O'Connor to ensure we were all well entertained.
Following 9 rounds of action the O'Halloran brothers (Luke, Matthew & Jack) had a dangerous 2 point lead heading into the final round and when the results were announced the Mountain team of Alan (Ice) Mulready, Tadgh Keogh, Conor and Claire Mac Manus had closed the gap to bring the quiz to a tiebreak.
First we had a round of 5 questions after which both were still level, followed by a single question on captal city which again bot got correct. So this lead to quizmaster Ruairi pulling out his phone for another question ....
Based on the most recent census - what is the population of Australia - Nearest number to the answer wins.
Without hesitation Jack O'Halloran had 27M on the tip of his tongue and his elder siblings questioneed who was his Geography teacher in Ard Scoil before deciding to go with his answer. The other team went with 17M and with the official number 27M the O'Hallorans were announced as winners.
Following the quiz U15 coach Caimin Morey thanked all in attendance for supporting the quiz and also for all who donated raffle prizes on the night.
A big thanks also to the Senior hurling squad who were all in attendance to ensure the next generation will follow in their foot steps.
