Sunday morning saw a brilliant day of hurling as we welcomed Sarsfields (Cork), Mungret (Limerick), and Clarinbridge (Galway) to our U10 tournament.
The day began with a warm welcome from Syl O’Connor, who greeted all the visiting teams as they ran onto the pitch, a moment the young players thoroughly enjoyed. Over the following hours, every team had the chance to play five games, showcasing plenty of great skill and teamwork.
After a series of closely fought matches, it was Sarsfields of Cork who came out on top, narrowly edging the final against SMB to claim the honours.
Once the hurling wrapped up, the focus shifted to food and fun. The Minor Club provided pizza and chips for all the players, which went down a treat with the kids, while parents and coaches were also well looked after with a generous spread of food throughout the day.
A massive thank you goes to all the coaches who guided their teams, the four referees; Zak and Callum Phelan, Rory Chaplin, and Cillian Murphy, for keeping the games flowing, and especially to the parents who both supplied and served the food, as well as helped with the setup and organisation.
It was a fantastic group effort and a wonderful occasion of underage hurling.
