On Sunday our U11 boys took part in a Hurling Blitz organised by the famed Sarsfields Club in Galway.
The 5 Clubs of Sarsfields (Galway), Sixmilebridge, Ballinakill (Laois), Eire Og (Kildare) & Lucan Sarsfields (Dublin) were invited. Over 80 boys took part.
To begin proceedings, all Teams took their place behind a piper and marched around the field before standing to attention for Amhrán na bhFiann…which was sung/hummed 😊 by the boys with great enthusiasm.
Sixmilebridge entered two even Teams and each Team got to play in 3 x 30 minute matches.
The Sixmilebridge Teams played fantastic Hurling, were very competitive in every game. Our discipline was excellent throughout and it needed to be as Senior intercounty Referees were drafted in for this one! Testament to the very high standard of Hurling that was expected from the Sixmilebridge boys on the day. Other Clubs complimented our great use of the ball as a Team which was just fantastic to hear about a Team of such young boys.
The Teamwork, passing, tackling, hooking ,blocking, catching and scoring on display was really excellent.
So well done to the boys on a huge effort and for representing the Club so well.
Many thanks to everyone who made the trip up to Sarsfields. An early start on a Sunday morning but it was well worth it as the boys just love days out like these.
