For the second time in twenty four hours teams from Sixmilebridge and Clarecastle were in opposition and, again, the bragging rights went to the ‘Bridge.

Victorious in the minor A final on Saturday, Sixmilebridge again came out on top when the under 21 hurlers from both clubs clashed at O’Garney Park on Sunday afternoon bringing to an end a disappointing week for the Magpies who suffered defeat in the premier intermediate final seven days earlier.

Centre forward Seamus O’Connell led the way for the winners contributing 1-8 of their tally

The home side made the better start and they raced 1-3 to 0-0 ahead before Oisin Whelan opened the visitors account.

The game’s only goal came from the top scorer, Seamus O’Connell whose free evaded the Clarecastle defence and ended up in the net.

The goal separated the sides at half time when the score was 1-4 o 0-4. In a game played in difficult weather conditions, the home side continued to hold the edge throughout the second half to deservingly take the spoils and put themselves strongly in contention for a place in the semi-finals.
