The 2025 Sixmilebridge Gaa Agm was held last night Friday November 24th at O'Garney Park there was a very healthy turnout across players, management and supporters. At the opening of the meeting and as a mark of respect, a minutes silence was observed for deceased members and for those deceased who were associated with the club.
Chairmans Adress
The Chairmans address was delivered by Syl O' Conor where he thanked everyone across the club who had contributed in any way over the past year. He told the meeting that their efforts no matter how big or small are truly appreciated and required to run a big organisation as Sixmilebridge GAA club. He also acknowledged the support of our main club sponsor Dominic Murphy of Shannon Precision Engineering which continues to be one of the longest partnerships across the GAA country widel
Treasurers Report
Treasurer Monica Fitzpatrick gave a very thorough financial report on the year gone by. Whilst the books did show a deficit at the end of the year, the Lotto sales are in a very healthy position helped by the large €20,000 Jackpot on offer which has still not been won.
Secretary’s Report
Secretary Adrian Hogan had issued his comprehensive report of the year gone by prior to the meeting. He outlined that hurling club membership had increase over the previous year to 584. There were 125 adult players, 276 youth players and 183 Non playing members. He gave an account of all teams progress throughout the year which was elaborated on later in the meeting by the Team managers.
With regard to the work required maintaining and improving the clubs fields and facilities and timber cutting and distribution Adrian mentioned some highlights of work done by Sean Stack and the Field and Facilities team (too many names to mention here but a great team who’s work is greatly appreciated) throughout the year including the installation of the new robotic lawnmower supplied by PJ Ryans, installation of hybrid goalmouths from Croke Park, installation of walking track lights and also the regular maintenance work on the fields such as lining, fertilising, watering, spiking and sanding (many more projects were completed also in 2025). He also mentioned the Timber cutting, splitting and delivery led by John Corbett & Donal Mullins. Well done to all involved in these projects including in the background on the Grants side where James Scanlon was heavily involved.
Also highlighted were the Lotto & Bingo team and their ongoing work each Monday for Bingo and Lotto, Mary Corbett, Joan Keogh, John Corbett, John Gaule, Sean Griffin, Jim Markham, Martin Hurley, James Scanlon, Tom Culbert and Sham Carr. Also the Parish League was mentioned, for 2025 over 70 players took part and was organised by Ian Chaplin. The very successful Toggin Out Fitness Programme under the leadership of Healthy Club Officer Brian O' Neill. Scoreboard operator and guardian of the club sliotars Tom Sheehan was mentioned for being ever present whenever required. Also the club Registrar Bernie Conlon and Pitch Booking Coordinator Donal Murphy for all their hard work behind the scenes and Siobhan Nelson the Children’s officer who ensured compliance across the club and Siobhan Ryan who helped out in a big way this year especially with regard to injury claims.
Senior Team Management Address
Tommy Liddy gave an account of the Senior team for the year and whilst they didn’t reach the highs of a county final like the year before and some injuries did hamper preparation, nonetheless the effort put in across management and players could not be faulted. Tommy, on behalf of himself and joint manager Stiofan Fitzpatrick thanked the players, fellow management Adrian Chaplin and Barry Coffey, Strength and conditioning coaches Chloe Morey & James Naughton, the Stats team of Sham Carr, Danny Reddan, Ronan O'Shea and Kevin Wallace. There was a special mention for Aidan 'Aido' O'Conor, the Kitman who was ever present throughout the year with his kit van full of anything that might be needed, his protein shakes and all round positivity which was noted as being especially encouraging to the group especially when a lift was required. Tommy also thanked their families without whose support, they would not have been able to undertake and perform the roles. Tommy said it was a privilege to manage the senior team and wished them the best for the future.
Intermediate Team Management Address
Pat Keane’s report indicated that the Intermediate grade is a very tough grade especially for Sixmilebridge who at the business end of the championship will always be competing with other clubs first teams. Nevertheless he stated, if the Bridge want the clubs second team to be a feeder team for the clubs senior team, remaining Premier Intermediate and playing the best teams at that grade is a must. The team had their best performance against eventual finalists Clarecastle, beating them well in the group stages, however they eventually lost to a good Whitegate side in the final round in Broadford. Pat thanked his fellow selectors Eamon Healy and Seamus Cusack and coach Jim Fitzgerald as well as the Senior management and also kitmen Jamesie Hassett and Sean Flynn.
Junior B Team Management Address
Jamesy Hassett gave his account of the 2 Junior B teams and indicated that they felt especially hampered by having to name 2 panels early on and with no travel up/down between either. Whilst there was a big panel across both teams there wasn’t always the panel available for training. Jamesy thanked the rest of the management group, John MacNamara, Mikey Corbett, Ronan Hayes, Jamie Keane, Billy Maxwell, Mikey Twomey. The Junior B1 team made the semi final losing to Inagh Kilnamona the eventual winners and the Junior B2 team almost qualified for the knockout stages.
Junior C Team Management Address
John Fahy in his report on the Junior C team indicated that the team was in the right division this year and were very competitive, losing to finalists Tubber by 2 points in the quarter final and actually beating the eventual winners Wolfe Tones in the group stages. John indicated that maybe if the team had taken part in the Junior league prior to championship it may have been better preparation than the few challenges the team played. This will hopefully looked at for next year. John thanked his fellow management members Brendan O'Callaghan, Gerry Liddane and Martin Conlon for coaching.
Minor Club Address
The Minor Club AGM was held last Wenesday evening and John Macnamara as the representative of the Minor club gave a summary of the year and reflected that there are good structures in place now with the Minor Club committee led by John O'Meara and across all teams now and it was great to win the U17A Minor title after a lengthy period as well as the successes at U15A level including Feile.
Camogie Club Address
Camogie Chairperson Eileen Donnellan said a few words from the Camogie club and was thankful to the facilities team for the excellent work done ensuring the fields were in top condition throughout the year.
AOB
During the AOB segment there was some healthy discussion around motions from the club for the upcoming county convention. PRO Ian Chaplin indicated that there were well over 400 articles published on Clubzap in the calendar year from January covering all aspects of the club including matches, teams and scorers and he thanked fellow contributors from the Communications team, Declan Murphy, Adrian Hogan, the Camogie Club PROs and with a fresh injection of social media content relating to the minor club, Siobhan Lynch. The Club Calendar was very successful in 2025, with the printing costs kindly covered by Eoin Gavin Transport and sales being made online through Clubzap, In person sales and through the shops at Centra, Tim Crowes, Jamies Butchers, Post Office and Culby Coffee. The proceeds of the calendar sales and Parish League entry fees have generated €1,000 which will be donated to the Joe Slattery Fund.
Chairman Syl O'Conor indicated that a seperate meeting on hurling only will be held at a later stage to discuss hurling matters only.
Stepping Aside Stepping aside for the coming year were John MacNamara, John Gaule, Joan Keogh, Bernie Conlon and Adrian Hogan.
John McNamara indicated that he was stepping down from the Vice Chairman role for 2026 and he has given excellent service over the last number of years having previously also been Senior Club secretary and Minor Club secretary for several years. John was also involved with the Junior B teams this year. John was thanked by Chairman Syl O'Conor for being especially helpful to him over the last 4 years. John will be remaining as Club delegate for the Minor club going forward.
Also stepping down was Joint Assistant treasurer John Gaule. John was instrumental in setting up the Finances to fund the Arena project including the Standing Orders for the Weekly Lotto. John has also served as Treasurer in the club over the past 10 years and always had a calm demeanour and very common-sense approach when discussing any topic. John also helps out weekly at Bingo and with the Lotto and it is great to hear that he will continue in that role. Many across the floor thanked John for his service over the years.
Also stepping aside for 2026 is Joint Assistant Treasurer Joan Keogh. Joan with nearly 14 years’ service across the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer roles has given great service also to the club and indeed was recognised earlier in the year with a GAA President’s Award presented by Jarlath Burns. Joan was also presented on the night with a token from the Club by Chairman Syl O'Conor. Secretary Adrian Hogan thanked Joan for all her work and said she had cone to be known as Aunty Joan in his house. Joan will continue to help out at Bongo and Lotto on the Monday nights thankfully!
Bernie Conlon is moving on from the Registrar role also, having given a number of years service in the role. A thankless job sometimes Bernie ensured that very player was registered and paid up a vital cog in the wheel. Bernie has always been a great help around the club from Fundraisers to catering for teams or anything else required she has always been available, we wish Bernie the best and hope to see her on board in some capacity at some stage very soon!
Also stepping aside was Secretary Adrian Hogan. Adrian has given a lot of commitment to the club over the past number of years having served previously as Minor Club chairman, Adrian also calls the numbers at Bingo on a Monday night and helps out in many different areas of the club, even on Sunday last Adrian was at the helm organising O’Garney Park for the last-minute fixture between Eire Og and Loughmore Castleiney. Adrians excellent service to the club was noted by Declan Murphy and others from the floor and again thankfully Adrian indicated that he will be around to help out in other ways in the club but that new work commitments mean he cannot be as available as he was previously.
