Our 14 Academy girls served up a bit of a thriller against near neighbours and schoolmates Wolfe Tones on Monday evening.
The first half started like a whirlwind with both outstanding defences snuffing out chances and play bouncing from one end to the other. Scores were hard to come by but the Bridge girls managed to take the slenderest of leads into the half time watermelons.
 The Shannon ladies came out invigorated in the second half and pinned the brave Bridge defence in. Tiredness unfortunately told & Wolfe Tones used their speedsters to great effect to pick off the few scores needed to take the win and the Academy trophy.
It was an epic battle that was enjoyed by a large crowd, so much so that many of the home side's adult teams, training during the game, stayed to watch the final outcome. 
Huge credit must be paid to players and coaches on a fantastic evening's entertainment
