Clonlara 1-18 Sixmilebridge 4-09
The 'Bridge minors were visitors to Clonlara for round 2 of the Minor hurling Championship on Monday evening. Clonlara had lost to Inagh/Kilnamona in round 1 while the 'Bridges game against Eire Og was postponed due to the U15 final so it was Sean Lynchs teams first big test for 2023.
The 'Bridge were a mix of youth and experience with 3 of the U15 team who were crowned champions last week making their debuts in Zak Phelan, Jack O'Halloran and Stephen Gavin. They also welcomed back their 3 Clare Minors for 2023 in Mark Sheedy, Matthew O'Halloran and Callum Phelan,
The first half was a very cagey affair with the home side leading by the minimum on a score of 0-08 to 0-07 at the short whistle.
Niall Liddane and Zak Phelan scored 2 goals each in the second half to secure a draw and get a valuable point on the board as they get ready to face St Josephs Doora Barefield in O'Garney Park at 11am on Sunday.
Note: There are 2 Jack O'Halloran's on the starting team and in the same line of defence and its not a typo :-)
