Sixmilebridge 1-21
Crusheen 0-20

Venue - Clarecastle
Referee - John Bugler

First up for the club in championship for 2023, on Saturday at 2pm in Clarecastle, in front of a decent crowd were the Seniors who took on Crusheen. With a significant breeze on the day, Derek Fahys puckouts were reaching the oppositions '21 when he chose to go long. David Kennedy chipped in with a goal on 15 minutes to put the 'Bridge ahead 1-7 to 0-5. Crusheen however pulled the lead back and at half time the 'Bridge led 1-13 to 0-11.

In the second half Crusheen continued to be dogged and tacked on the scores, after 50 minutes the 'Bridge lead was cut back to only 2 points at 1-17 to 0-18. The 'Bridge however ran out as winners at 1-21 to 0-20, a 4 point win. Good for the 'Bridge on the day were Shane Golden who had a great first half, Cathal Malone who was denied by the width of the post what would have been the score of the game, after travelling all of 90 yards and beating several players on the way, including a flick over the head before his shot unfortunately hit the post. The seniors next outing will be against Clonlara and it is scheduled for Saturday 12th August in Cusack Park at 630pm.
