U21A Journey Ends in Clooney
Sixmilebridge 0-7
Clooney Quin 0-11
Venue - Clooney

The 21A team lined out in the 2nd round of the group stage on Sunday 5th November in Clooney against Clooney Quin. Conditions were tough, wet and soggy underfoot to be expected this time of year.
Clooney Quin were lining out with a large number of players from their senior team and were on the back of a win against St. Joseph's Doora Barefield on the previous Thursday evening. The 'Bridge had also beaten St. Joseph's Doora Barefield in Round 1.
With a decent breeze, it helped Clooney Quin to an 0-8 to 0-2 half time lead, the Bridge backs playing superbly to limit the effectivensss of the Clooney Quin attacks. The 'Bridge scores were hard to come by in the first half, with a number of wides, but the opportunities were being created and on another day they might have been converted.
The second half saw the Bridge come out with a renewed passion and the lead was cut to just 3 points but an elusive goal wasn't forthcoming to get close enough to threaten the Clooney Quin lead.
All in all the backs on both teams played every well to limit scores and the conditions did not suit fast crisp hurling but that must be expected this time of the year. Good for the Bridge were Leon Kelly, Dara Fitzgerald and Oisin Breen.
There are a handful overage next year and this group will now look to 2024 to try and reach the knockout stages.
