This weekend saw the wrap up for this season of the Clare U14, U15 and U16 Development squads with all teams in action around the country.
At U15 this year we had 7 players who saw intercounty action namely Cian Mullins, Harry Loughnane, Joe Reidy, Liam Flannery, Neil Óg Mac Giolla Cearra, Noel Duggan and TJ Finnin.
At U16 we had 4 players namely Conor Keogh, Ross Kearney, Dougie Brew and Dylan McInerney.
Our biggest crop was at U14 where we have 8 boys involved namely Caelan Hayes, Cillian Rafferty, Jack Fitzpatrick, Jack Monahan, Jack Reddan, Liam Mulready, Noah Seago O'Sullivan and Seán Conlon.
These development squads provide a great foundation for future intercounty players where along with hurling skills they also educate players on health and well being, S&C and healthy eating.
At the U14 tournament this weekend Clare had 3 teams in action with the 'Bridge boys split across all teams in the Tony Forristal/Sonny Walsh tournament in De la salle in Waterford.
While the conditions werre not ideal for hurling with monsoon showers all 3 Clare teams and all Bridge boys involved aquitted themselves very well.
The Clare blue team which was captained by Liam Mulready and included Noah Seago O'Sullivan and Cillian Rafferty brought silverware with Mul also winning Man of the Match in the Final.
All boys now are back to their clubs for the upcoming U14 and U16 championships as well as schools hurling. The coaches in the development squads will now assess all squads and trials for the Clare minors will begin in the coming weeks along with some possible tweaks to the existing development squad personnel. The process of selecting a new batch of Clare U14 hurlers for 2026 (2012 born) will begin in the coming weeks also.
